Name and Title A Letter to Students

Lisa NewmanLisa Breeden Newman, MA LPC-S
Assistant Dean

Ever since I graduated from high school in Avoyelles Parish, I dreamed of becoming a counselor to help children have someone in whom to confide; and wanted to begin this dream at LSU. I received my BA in Psychology in 1982 and MA in Community Counseling in 1987 from LSU. I started my career at LSU and have remained here since graduating with my Master’s degree.

In conjunction with the administrative duties of my position, I provide academic, career, and personal counseling to all students in the college. My primary responsibilities include the determination of graduation and student teaching eligibility and coordination of the appeals committee for the college.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor of Counselor Interns in the state of Louisiana. I am also a member of the Louisiana Counseling Association (LCA) and the Louisiana College Counseling Association (LCCA) and have held the office of President for both organizations because of my strong commitment to professional growth and service.

I am an avid reader and enjoy going to libraries, bookstores, and garage sales. I also love to help my husband with gardening and maintaining our numerous outdoor plants. My husband and I have five children between the two of us and ten grandchildren who live in Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio and Virginia.

Best wishes,
Lisa
