The LSU School of Education is excited to launch Best Practices. What is "Best Practices"? To us, it's aspirational...something to constantly strive for, something worth sharing and conversing about, something in service of our incredible educators and policymakers, an engagement piece for our colleagues inside and outside the classroom.

The intent is to share concepts, issues, and research supported in the literature -- in an accessible and meaningful way.

Education is the regenerative force in the community. The goal of Best Practices is engagement among our local, state, and national communities (the public, policymakers, and alumni) by addressing contemporary challenges and deepening civic and academic learning, enhancing community well-being, and enriching scholarship.

The School of Education faculty are professionals in the field of education who have expertise to share and a desire to improve the quality of life for our neighbors and citizens. This publication seeks to provide solutions to issues that face parents, educators, and policymakers. It will provide a dedicated space for LSU faculty and graduate scholars to share the knowledge of their field and expertise...in service to you.

You are receiving Best Practices because we think that you have an interest in being part of the solution. An archive of Best Practices is available at lsu.edu/bestpractices.

It is fitting that we begin with early childhood. Cyndi DiCarlo, PhD, Executive Director of the Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool, provides our first critical issue in education: fostering a love for learning in the youngest.

The clients of schooling are the whole community. All stakeholders are invited to contact us to suggest or request topics for investigation. Thank you for taking the time to engage with Best Practices.
