Degree Requirements: CMST Major
Majors in Communication Studies must complete at least 120 hours for their degree program. Of this, the department requires a total of 36 semester hours: 12 core courses (below) and 24 hours of CMST electives. At least half of these electives (12 hours) must be courses numbered 3000 or above.
Communication Studies Core Courses and Electives (30 hours minimum)

Laboratory Requirement
- The department requires that the two course sequence in natural science be accompanied by two hours of corresponding labs.
- If a two course natural science sequence is taken in the physical sciences, the three hour natural science course must be from the life sciences, and vice versa.
