Matt Lee currently serves as the interim Executive Vice President & Provost at LSU. In this capacity, he serves as the chief academic officer and the chief operating officer of the institution. He provides executive oversight for all aspects of instruction, research, recruitment and student affairs, working closely with deans, vice presidents, faculty and staff leadership. His administrative motto is “Excellence through Innovation”, and he ardently supports the Scholarship First initiative established by LSU President Tate. Prior to this appointment Lee served as the Vice Provost for Academic Programs and Support Services (2015-2021) and as Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development (2010-2015). A sociologist by training, his scholarly work has been centered in criminology, public health, and community resilience..
