University networks must remain open to enable research and academic inquiry, and thus higher education is at increased risk for data breaches and potential identity theft. The LSU community must make every effort to protect its data, and must also be prepared to recover in the event of data disclosure. Over the last few years, numerous colleges, government agencies, and corporations have had to address the aftereffects of a data breach.
