MOVE-IN APPOINTMENTS

Move-in Appointments Update

July 5, 2022, 3 pm CST

Move-in appointment scheduling remains closed. We are aiming to resume scheduling later this week and will make sure you have ample notice before reopening.

Before we reopen, we’ll send confirmation emails to those with appointments so you know you don’t need to log in unless you want to change your appointment.

When we do reopen, you will have to log in with your myLSU credentials through the link we provide online and in email. Links shared on social media from previous years’ bookings are disabled.

If you haven’t already, make sure you know your myLSU credentials and have gone through the Microsoft authentication process. It may take a few minutes the first time you do it from off campus.

In the meantime, make sure you:

1.     Setup your myLSU password appropriately, and

2.     Setup more than one factor (authenticator app, phone number, backup phone number or app, etc.) or Multi-Factor Authentication

Incoming First-year Students

Rising Sophomores and Above Moving into Apartments

Whether you are moving into a residence hall or campus apartment, you must move in August 12-14, 2022, so you can participate in Welcome Week activities beginning August 15, 2022.

Limited early arrival appointments on Friday, August 12, 2022, may be available for an early arrival  charge.

You must have the LSU Office of Orientation's approval to arrive later than August 15, 2022, since you will miss parts of Welcome Week. We will work with you to schedule a later arrival time once we have Orientation's approval of your late arrival.

You move in August 19-21, 2022.

Students moving into Oxbow and Canal Halls at Nicholson Gateway Apartments move-in August 21, 2022. If times on August 19-20, 2022 become an option, we will let you know!

You must move in by 11:59 p.m. on the first day of classes to claim your space. Schedule an appointment with your community's residence coordinator if you need to arrive later.

Get Your Tiger Card

Submit your Tiger Card photo by July 8, 2022. Tiger Cards are available for pick up at in-person orientation sessions or will be mailed to your home address. Bring your Tiger Card to Move-in!

If you submit a photo after July 8 or do not pick up your Tiger Card at in-person orientation, you will be issued a temporary key at move-in check-in. You can go to the Tiger Card Office to pick up your Tiger Card during Welcome Week.

Packing Prep

Read the Living on Campus Handbook for all policies and procedures, what's allowed and what to leave at home, and safety and security measures in place on campus.

Use our packing guide as a helpful checklist!

Try to pack items in boxes, storage tubs, or durable, easy to carry bags to make the move-in process easy for you. Label each item with your First initial, last name, room number, and tally of boxes. For example, Mike the Tiger in Herget 212 with 5 boxes would label his items with "M. Tiger, Herget 212, Box 1/5, Box 2/5," etc.

Rolling carts are available for use, however you are encouraged to bring a hand truck, dolly, or wagon to use. You and your guests are responsible for moving items into your room.

Print Your Arrival Time Hang Tag

Check your inbox in August for your printable Move-in Day hang tag. This hang tag is the only way you are allowed on campus and into the Move-in Day staging area on River Road at your move-in day and time.

Print one hang tag per car. Each student can have a maximum of two vehicles. Sharing, photocopying, or printing extra copies of hang tags is not permitted.

If you don't have access to a printer, just let us know and we'll mail it to you or tell you how to get one on campus the day you move in.

If you plan on taking a ride-share or taxi to the staging area, let us know and we'll make sure you have the info you need to be as efficient as possible.

Position your hang tag on your vehicle's rear view mirror with the date, time, and barcode facing the front windshield. Each student can bring up to two (2) cars. If you have a third car,  you need to park it in a perimeter lot on campus before coming to the staging area. A third car will not be allowed into the Move-in staging area.

Arrive at the Move-in Day staging area, Levee Lot 412 on River Road, no more than 15 minutes before your move-in time.

Early birds will be redirected to the exit lane to wait for their time.

Late arrivals will be accommodated as possible.

Pull up to the welcome tents where you will exchange your hang-tag for a building-specific hang tag.

Oversize vehicles, cars with trailers attached, and box trucks should use the far right-hand lane in the staging area.

From there just follow the directional signage and friendly faces to get in the correct lane for your building and then from the staging area to your residence hall or apartment unloading zone.

At your community's unloading zone, guests can begin unloading cars while the student enters the building to check in.

Rolling carts are available for use, however you are encouraged to bring a hand truck, dolly, or wagon to use. You and your guests are responsible for moving items into your room.

After cars are unloaded, they must be moved to parking areas throughout campus that do not interfere with move-in routes. Guests can then walk back to their student's community and rejoin the group.

Bring down all trash and flattened cardboard boxes to the trash and recycle dumpsters outside the building.

Request to have your bed height adjusted at your community's front desk.

You will drive straight to your community's unloading zone. The River Road staging area is only used August 12-14, 2022.

Position your hang tag on your vehicle's rear view mirror with the date, time, and barcode facing the front windshield. Each student can bring up to two (2) cars. If you have a third car,  you need to park it in a perimeter lot on campus before coming to your unloading area.

Arrive at your community's unloading zone no more than 15 minutes before your move-in time.

At your community's unloading zone, guests can begin unloading cars while the student enters the building to check in.

Wheeled carts will be available. Please return them to the lobby after use so they can be cleaned for the next Tigers moving in.

If you go shopping or go to dinner with your family, that is fine. If you leave campus, be prepared for traffic congestion when you return during the day when other students are moving in.

Welcome Week begins after you move-in. LSU Enrollment Management and Orientation will send detailed schedules to you about all the Welcome Week activities.

Upload your photo by July 8:

  1. On a desktop or mobile browser, navigate to myphoto.lsu.edu.
  2. Click “Get Started Now!” and log in with your myLSU username and password.
  3. Submit your ID photo, government issued ID, and signature.
