Dr. Theda Daniels-Race

Dr. Theda Daniels-Race is the program director for the School of Collaborative Academic Programs and an M. B. Voorhies Distinguished Professor in the Division of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).

As a longtime advocate of collaboration, Dr. Race has not only pursued joint research ventures with LSU colleagues in her home College of Engineering, but also with faculty members in the College of Science, College of Human Sciences & Education, the College of Music & Dramatic Arts and the School of Veterinary Medicine, to name a few. A highly sought-after scholar and invited speaker, she has introduced the necessity of intellectually deep integration across disciplinary boundaries to national and international audiences. As the inaugural program director of the School of Collaborative Academic Programs, Dr. Race’s own vision for SCAP is for the program to be a gateway for faculty-driven, student-energized innovative new degree programs that will provide new academic pathways, support new scholarship, and empower all involved to make the kind of global impact that an LSU education inspires.

Dr. Race holds a joint appointment with LSU’s Center for Computation and Technology.  In the field of nanotechnology, her research focuses upon the discovery of nanoscale electronic phenomena in semiconductor-based materials.  In the ECE Division, Dr. Race serves as director of the Electronic Materials and Devices Laboratory.
