Meet Our Officers

The Curriculum Theory Graduate Student Collaborative (CTGSC) is a diverse group of students pursuing a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction or Educational Leadership & Research. They travel the world, make connections, and impact their communities—they are the future of education.

Officers in the Graduate Student Collaborative come from various backgrounds and focus their research and studies in a wide range of fields. They love history, music, science, and more. Below are the Collaborative's current officers.

 

Lindsay M. Stewart

Lindsay Stewart

Lindsay Stewart is a PhD student in the Curriculum Theory Project Graduate program at Louisiana State University’s College of Human Science & Education. Lindsay holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in the Arts of Teachers, both from LSU. After teaching fifth grade, Lindsay returned to LSU to explore the role that literacy plays in the development and community growth of adolescents. Specifically, she is interested in examining the positive impact provided by of a physical activity-based positive youth development program (PA-PYD).

Shana Khan

Shana Khan

Shana is currently pursuing a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction in Louisiana State University’s School of Education in the LSU College of Human Sciences & Education with a research focus on English as a Second Language (ESL) students, bilingualism, internationalization and migration/immigration. Shana has both an undergraduate and masters degree in Sociology. Shana has previously served as both a coordinator and general secretary of her undergraduate institution’s Rotaract Club.

Sher Ahmed

Sher Ahmed

Sher Ahmed is a PhD student in Educational Leadership and Research at Louisiana State University. He holds two master’s degrees in Educational Leadership, one from Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan and the second from the George Washington University, Washington DC. He has ten years of teaching experience of English language and Social Studies at different High Schools and Urdu literature at an intermediate college. He also served as a high school principal for more than a year. Before leaving for the US for his studies, he was serving as a Senior Subject Specialist (Teacher Educator) in Bureau of Curriculum and Extension Center, Education Department, Government of Balochistan, Pakistan. Sher’s research interests concentrate to the school leadership role in school-community relationships.

Shazia Humayun

 Shazia Humayun

Shazia Humayun is a doctoral student in Curriculum and Instruction at Louisiana State University. She is working as a graduate Assistant with LSU Online. She has a Law degree with a Masters in Science and a postgraduate degree in Educational Leadership and Management. She is on study leave from a private educational organization in Pakistan where her career has evolved from a classroom teacher to a teacher trainer with continuous and steady professional development. Her research interest is in situating professional development for teachers leading to development of communities of practices for improvement of the process of teaching and learning

Julie Parrish

Julie Parrish 

Julie Parrish is a doctoral student in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy Studies. Before moving to Baton Rouge in 2016, she finished her 25th year in public education in Texas with experience as a special education teacher, elementary teacher, reading specialist, and language arts/early childhood coordinator. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas-Austin and master’s degree from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.  She is interested in researching how young children and their teachers negotiate the complex task of learning to read and write.
