Apply

The first step towards studying Computer Science at LSU is to start the application for admission to LSU. As you complete the application, make sure to select “computer science” as your “major of interest.” This will make sure you get the correct information based on your interests and also that you are considered for any available scholarship aid.

At LSU, most first-year students are enrolled in the University Center for Freshman Year (UCFY) before they are enrolled in a specific senior college. So, as an incoming freshman you will be listed as a “computer science” student from the start of your studies at LSU, but you won’t officially be enrolled in the College of Engineering until you complete the following criteria (which usually happens as you enter your sophomore year):

  • Complete 24 credit hours
  • Pass Calculus 1 (MATH 1550)
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA
