2024-2025 FAFSA Delays

How are delays in the 2024-2025 FAFSA timeline impacting financial aid decisions?

FAFSA Updates: The U.S. Department of Education has launched a new, simplified, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form for the 2024-25 academic year. The new form expands eligibility for federal student aid. If you have not yet done so, we encourage you to complete your 2024-25 FAFSA form today.

Timeline: The U.S. Department of Education announced recently that colleges and universities will not begin receiving Institutional Student Information Records (ISIR’s) until sometime in March, possibly later. The ISIR is the institutional copy of your FAFSA application.  Like many colleges and universities, we cannot begin making decisions about need based financial aid until we receive this information. That means notifications about federal student aid and some need-based scholarships will be delayed.

Financial Aid Impact: The delay from the U.S. Department of Education will not affect our consideration of your application for federal student aid and need-based scholarships.

Scholarships Impact: This delay has not impacted LSU’s scholarship review process. Scholarship notifications began in early December and will continue throughout the admissions cycle.

Deadlines:  Our office is monitoring the timeline put forth by the Department of Education and will make necessary adjustments to applicable priority dates and deadlines.
