‘The Hunt Palmer Show’ Brings Live ESPN Broadcast to LSU Sports Summit:

October 14, 2026

Ever wonder what goes into producing a live, real-time sports radio show?

The LSU Manship School of Mass Communication will host a live broadcast of “The Hunt Palmer Show” from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in the Journalism Building’s Holiday Forum. The live show is part of the LSU Sports Summit, an event designed to connect aspiring sports media professionals with industry leaders and alums. The broadcast will feature a special appearance by LSU baseball head coach Jay Johnson.

A sports staple on 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge, “The Hunt Palmer Show” delivers daily coverage of regional athletics and SEC sports. During football season, host Hunt Palmer navigates a fast-paced production schedule driven by press conferences, game and player analysis, and breaking sports news. In addition to his daily two-hour live broadcast, Palmer publishes a morning sports news article every weekday at 8 a.m. on Louisianasports.net.

“There’s a routine that comes with football season that I enjoy,” Palmer said. “Every Monday’s got a coach’s press conference. Every Tuesday’s got player interviews, and so forth.”

Beyond hosting the live daily show from the heart of the Manship school, Palmer is eager to engage directly with students as a Manship alumnus. He looks forward to not only sharing his own professional insights and journey, but discussing how modern technology and social media continue to reshape mass communication initiatives.

“I’m curious to learn some stuff from the students, and then I’ve got a little bit of experience now,” Palmer said.

This interactive setup offers experiential learning on LSU’s campus, going beyond the traditional classroom instruction. For students considering careers in sports journalism or broadcasting, or who want to experience something new, the event provides a rare behind-the-scenes look at production mechanics and live commentary. Attendees are invited to stop by the Holiday Forum throughout the afternoon to observe the show, ask questions and network with industry professionals this October.
