Critical Ecologies Research Group (CERG)

The CERG comprises an interdisciplinary collaboration of faculty and students at LSU that studies contemporary environmental issues using cultural, historical, and political economy approaches. We began in Fall 2021 as a discussion group, meeting once per month to share current projects and readings. We conduct research in the US South, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East on local food systems, Black farmer networks, environmental racism, indigenous agroecologies, and settler colonialism.

Current CERG members include the following.
Faculty: Brittany Cook, Sarah Franzen, Andrew Sluyter.
Graduate Students: Adam Dohrenwend, Charlotte Jones, Brett Spencer.
