The team of highly trained and experienced individuals in the Anesthesia and Analgesia Service are responsible for the provision and supervision of anesthesia and pain management support to all Specialty Services within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

The Anesthesia and Analgesia Service employs state-of-the-art equipment in the delivery of anesthesia. The combination of the knowledge provided by our team of highly skilled individuals and the use of state-of-the-art monitoring equipment used at the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine ensures the best possible care during any diagnostic procedure, including consultation for sedation and pain management, or therapeutic regimen that requires the administration of general anesthesia.

What to Expect

Every patient will undergo a thorough preanesthetic evaluation.

An anesthesiologist will assign a protocol individually designed for every patient’s need.

The anesthesia care team works together to administer the anesthetic and monitor the patient’s condition.

An anesthetist stays with your pet for the entire procedure, constantly monitoring every important function of your pet’s body and individually modifying the anesthetic to ensure maximum safety and comfort.
